WPQR

Why do WPQR?

By following standardized procedures, you can prove that welds meet industry standards and that the safety and quality of welded components are maintained. With a WPS welding procedure correctly made from a WPQR, you can prove that the welding work achieves the required quality.

What can we help you with?

Our consultants have +30 years of proven welding consulting experience and are ready to help you identify your needs and produce the necessary welding procedure specification for any welding type and welding process.

WPQR - Welding procedure specification

Process flow

The process of creating your welding procedure specifications starts with us developing a preliminary welding procedure specification WPS based on your welding experience and the material properties you want to weld in.

Under controlled and monitored conditions, weld samples are produced from the preliminary WPS.

The samples undergo destructive and non-destructive tests. Based on the test result, the quality of the weld is assessed.

If the test result is positive, an accredited WPQR can be prepared containing information that defines the weld. The information will include the welding process, base material and filler material, welding parameters such as welding speed, amperage, voltage, etc. as well as any requirements for preheating and finishing.

WPQRén undergoes third-party inspection and approval and is stamped by an accredited body.

Qualification of welding procedure

Welding procedure specifications are prepared according to the DS/EN ISO 15614 series. You can buy the 15614 series here

In the construction industry, having a WPQR is often a requirement to ensure compliance with ISO 3834 and EN 1090 requirements.

Within EN 1090, welding procedure qualification depends on the execution class, base material and degree of mechanization. Welding procedure qualification methods are shown in tables 12 and 13. In some cases, a standard welding procedure is sufficient.
