The certification process

The certification process for welding certificates proceeds as follows:

Before the certification

When you request certification, we assess whether you are able to sit an exam. Before we can start the certification process, we need to get it right together:

  • Which certificate and base material do you want to be examined in? (standard, type, plate, pipe, etc.)
  • Should it be with or without PED endorsement?
  • Which welding process?
  • Where and when will the test take place? (E.g. in your company)
  • Do you need special considerations? (e.g. language)
  • Do you have welding instructions available and are you able to follow them (pWPS or WPS)?
  • Special considerations for language, dyslexia, audio difficulties, etc.

You may also be asked to provide documentation or additional information if we deem it necessary for certification purposes.

In cases where the welder’s skills are found to be satisfactory, he/she can proceed to testing/examination. A confidentiality agreement is drawn up and signed by the candidate.

Taking the test

At the agreed test location and time, the inspector checks the welder’s/examiner’s documentation for identification. The examinee signs a declaration in which he/she agrees to use the certificate correctly. During the examination, the Advisio examiner assesses your professional qualifications, including whether you understand and follow the welding procedures on which the welding is based. The inspector also checks whether the items to be tested meet the requirements specified in ISO 9606 and ISO 14732 respectively.

The examinee prepares and sets up the welding test.

The inspector ensures that the weld test is labeled with ID tag, examinee ID, inspector ID and date.

The inspector will take the weld sample for a DT test (destructive test). If you want a PED endorsement, the sample must also undergo an NDT test (non-destructive test) according to the applicable standard. We use an external supplier for NDT/DT tests and these can be performed as accredited testing if deemed necessary.

Testing and certification

The inspector visually assesses the weld sample. Upon acceptance of the visual test, the weld samples can undergo DT (destructive testing) for approval. If there is a requirement for PED, additional NDT must be performed according to the applicable standard.

NDT/DT testing can be performed as accredited testing if deemed necessary.

If the certification body approves the overall test, a certificate can be issued. If the test is not passed, you will be referred for more training before taking the test again.

Certificates are sent to the requester electronically and in the original paper version.

After certification

At the request of the requester, AdVisio can upload the certificate in AdVisio Software.

Upon request, AdVisio can check or confirm whether a person has a valid welding certificate and which standard they are certified in. However, we do not provide certificates without the requester’s written consent – unless it is a legal requirement.

In the event that the certificate is misused, it may be suspended. Gross misuse will be reported to the Danish authorities.

Certification conditions

The obligations of the requester and the examinee and certificate holder are:

The requester and the examinee sign a solemn declaration committing to:

  • Provide documentation and information as AdVisio deems necessary
  • Not taking part in fraudulent practices
  • Not to publish assessment material
  • Not to use unauthorized assistive devices
  • Only use the certification within the scope of validity
  • Not to use the certificate in a misleading way or in a way that brings AdVisio into disrepute
  • Not to misrepresent AdVisio
  • To request PED endorsement of the certificate when PED approval is required
  • Immediately notify AdVisio of changes that affect the ability to comply with the certification requirements
  • To return certificates and discontinue their use where the certificate is suspended or revoked

Impartiality

Svejsecertifikater Upartiskhed

AdVisio has internal policies and procedures that ensure objectivity and impartiality in relation to its certification activities. The management of AdVisio ensures that no financial or social conflicts of interest arise in relation to the companies for whom AdVisio sells welding certificates – so to speak:

  • that AdVisio provides an alternative employee where there may be family relationships with candidates that may cast doubt on the maintenance of objectivity and impartiality
  • that AdVisio refuses to perform certification activities in cases where impartiality and objectivity cannot otherwise be ensured
  • that AdVisio has no financial interest in the performance of companies for whom AdVisio offers certificates
  • AdVisio continuously checks assessment results for signs of cheating

AdVisio management and AdVisio inspectors thus sign a declaration of impartiality, which states that impartiality in the above matters is maintained.
