CE marking of structural steel?

According to the Danish Building Regulations (BR18), steel structures must be designed and constructed in accordance with Eurocode 3 (EN 1993 series) and EN 1090-1 is used as the execution standard, meaning that the standard must be followed during execution. Requirements for CE marking of structural steel

Scope and scope

In order to CE mark structural steel, your company must be certified according to EN 1090-1. The company must have a quality management system according to DS/EN ISO 3834 or another FPC system. Read more about ISO 3834 here

The work must be organized by a welding coordinator. Certified welders must be used and welding procedures must be available for all welds.

How to become EN1090 certified

How long does it take to become EN1090 certified

You must apply for certification by an accredited third party, who will audit your company to determine if it can demonstrate compliance with EN1090.

From project start-up with building a system to final certification can take between 4-12 months, depending on how many resources are assigned to the project within the company.

Alternatively, the company can get advice on the rules of the standard and how to start the process. The company is then responsible for the project process and the description of all processes.
